Frequently Asked Questions

About the Experience
Is this therapy?

No. Semper Fi Farm does not provide clinical therapy or medical treatment. Time here is non-clinical and focuses on presence, connection, and spending time with animals and the land.

Do I have to talk about personal experiences or trauma?

No. Sharing is never required. Participation is always optional, and you are welcome to engage quietly, privately, and at your own comfort level.

Do I have to ride horses?

No. Most equine time at Semper Fi Farm is ground-based, such as grooming, leading, or simply being near the horses. Riding is not required and is only offered when it feels appropriate and is clearly agreed upon.

Stays & Lodging
Are the cabins tiny houses?

Stays at Semper Fi Farm take place in camp-style glamping cabins designed for short-term visits. They are not residential housing and are intended for temporary, retreat-style use.

Are stays long-term or permanent?

No. All stays are short-term and non-permanent, meant to support rest, reflection, and time on the land. Semper Fi Farm does not provide long-term housing.

What are the cabins like?

Cabins are simple, comfortable, and intentionally minimal. They provide basic comforts and a quiet place to sleep, with a focus on rest, nature, and connection to the farm rather than luxury.

Who It’s For
Who can participate in programs or stays?

Programs and stays are primarily for veterans, disabled veterans, and their families. Some offerings may also be open to mission-aligned guests, partners, and community supporters, as space allows.

Do I need experience with horses or dogs?

No. You do not need any prior experience with animals to take part. Staff will guide you at a pace that feels comfortable and will explain each step along the way.

Logistics & Comfort
What should I wear or bring?

We recommend comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Depending on the season, you may also want a hat, layers, and a reusable water bottle.

Is staff on site during programs and stays?

Yes. Experienced staff are on site during scheduled programs and stays, available when needed while still giving you space and independence.

If you have a question that isn’t answered here, you’re welcome to reach out and ask — we’re glad to clarify anything about the farm, programs, or stays.
